Warm Welcome from Belleville Community at Wisconsin GTC Open House
By Brett Bonwell
On Wednesday, July 13th DNA Genetics invited the community of Belleville, Wisconsin along with area customers and industry partners to attend an open house for the newly constructed Wisconsin Gene Transfer Center. More than 100 people were in attendance for the event.
Visitors were able to tour the center’s buildings which include a 472 space main barn, 100 head isolation, and a state-of-the-art genetics lab with an attached two-bay garage where courier vehicles can be loaded directly from the lab’s cool room.
Located 20 miles southwest of Madison, the gene center is ideally-situated amongst picturesque dairy farms, centrally located for customer deliveries, and has good biosecurity with no pig production for several miles.
DNA team members who attended the open house enjoyed meeting the neighbors and people from the community. Christine Lade, Vice-President of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce said, “This is a great addition to the community and we’re glad you’re supporting Belleville. We look forward to working with DNA Genetics and helping you any way we can.”
The gene center expects to begin production in October. When it reaches full capacity, which is expected in October 2017, it will produce 16,000 semen doses per week to customers within a 250 mile radius.
